“The greatest reward is the freedom enjoyed by the horse. This system of training the rider is known as body control and discipline.”

“Body discipline is not for the beginner. It is for riders who already have good balance and a good working seat. Its purpose is to reveal to the rider how his body can become a living part of the horse’s performance”

“All riders who regard riding as an art will ride with more ease and artistic beauty, when given the chance to unshackle their bodies and to think of themselves in a different light.”

LECTURE: $20 | WORKSHOP: $20 | LUNGE LESSON: $70

Pine Knoll Center for Integrated Horsemanship
Presents Judging Clinic, Schooling Test Rides and Seminar Series

THOMAS  POULIN
“S” Judge with 40 years of Judging Experience

Every month we look forward to Mr. Poulin’s clinics and have received wonderful feedback from everyone in attendance.  When we ask riders what they would like to see in the future we keep coming back to one word “more”.  They would like more information, more instruction, more theory, more examples, and the opportunity to watch more rides and hear more critiques.

We are constantly striving to improve and maximize everyone’s clinic experience and incorporate the Classical Principals.  Working to improve the rider’s ability to communicate clearly through the exercise of “Body Discipline”, lunge lessons, dismounted workshops, bio-mechanics, massage therapy, dentistry, farrier techniques, alternative therapies and mental fitness for horse and rider.

The clinic and seminar series will start off July 10th with schooling tests performed by riders at each of the levels listed below.  Mr. Poulin will be lecturing the seminar attendees from the judge’s box during the rides on the following:
1. The correct rhythms of the gaits and their purity
2. The suppleness of the gaits and their elasticity
3. The connection between horse and rider, contact
4. The straightness of horse and alignment in riding
5. The impulsion and energy in the ride
6. The collection i.e.: Engagement through the hindquarters
This is a behind the scenes take on “What the Judge is Looking For”.  As a rider this gives us the chance to see, hear, and have explained everything before riding with Tom the following days.  As a competitor it gives us the chance to discover what the judge is looking for when we enter the show ring.  And it is also a great tool to those who are aspiring to become judges (‘L’ program, etc…).

There is limited space available so we ask that everyone interested please book early.
Thank you for your continued interest in our programs.
We look forward to seeing you!
