Hope Surgery Report

Left Sinus Osteoma

An osteoma within the sinus cavity is a relatively uncommon occurrence. Removal of the osteoma at this time should prevent reoccurrence assuming that all the osteoma was removed. This appeared to be so during surgery. The bone over the maxillary sinus had been deformed from the swelling. This will smooth out somewhat but will probably always bulge out over the left maxillary sinus. Occasionally with this type of surgery subcutaneous infections are encountered which may require some drainage. Thus, the suture line areas should be observed closely in the post-operative period for any evidence of this.

The Four Harmony Foundation thank Rolf Embertson, DVM and Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital for their support and the expert care Hope received.

Hope has made a wonderful recovery.
